Keller s Comics Corner: To Have Loved and Lost

Keller s Comics Corner: To Have Loved and Lost By cmkeller on Feb 14, 2021, 12:56am EST 3 Welcome to the finale, at least for now, of Keller s Comics Corner. When I conceived this series, I knew there were a number of baseball-featuring comic books that I had in mind to write about, and this one, on this particular day, was always meant to be the endpoint. It s certainly not an exhaustive catalog of all times that any character in any comic book has ever played baseball. There are too many for me to list or research. But I challenged myself to create content once a month for a full year, and I have succeeded. I have a heightened appreciation to those of you who have been able to commit to weekly (or more frequent) content production, which I have spent much time enjoying. I know it ain t easy to find the time. Shout-outs to Hokius s movie reviews and Matthew Lamar s Pop Culture Corner, which helped in my decision to do these postings here despite most of them not bein

Fearing Climate Change, the Louvre s New Conservation Center Will Hold One-Third of the Museum s Entire Art Collection

In 1910, there was the Great Flood of Paris: Excess rainwater raised water levels eightfold. Photos from that time show locals riding down streets in makeshift boats. With global warming, there is a 40% increase in the chance of a similar flood happening nowadays. So if that does happen, in a city chock-full with culture, what will happen to the art? While appearing on albums for reputable labels such as Mute, Kranky, and Bedroom Community, today’s electronic-ambient artists are also afforded a healthy sideline in commissions for dance, theater, art installation, and film. One key benefactor is the choreographer Wayne McGregor, who treats his internationally acclaimed spectacles like he’s booking Moogfest, enlisting composers such as Max Richter, Ben Frost, and Jon Hopkins. But those lines seem especially blurred in the case of A Winged Victory for the Sullen, whose second album,

DS Automobiles takes inspiration from Paris landmark with DS 7 Crossback Louvre

DS Automobiles has unveiled a limited-edition version of its DS 7 SUV which draws inspiration from the Le Louvre art museum in Paris.  The DS 7 Crossback Louvre’s chief offering is access to over 180 works of art, viewable through the car’s 12-inch infotainment screen. A unique ‘Day at the Louvre’ feature allows occupants of the car to discover some of the museum’s key works of art, including paintings, portraits and sculptures.  Pyramid shapes are applied across the car. They can be accessed either via a search function or by allowing the system to suggest a new item each day, with works of art including the famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, The Wedding at Cana by Véronèse and The Winged Victory of Samothrace. Each piece is accompanied by a four-minute podcast which explains the history of the item.
