A BUSINESS owner has called for investment in Belcoo to help alleviate ongoing issues around parking and speeding in the village. Issues around speeding have been common for the village – a main route to Sligo with large volumes of traffic passing through. However, with limited parking available on the Main Street and Railway Road heading towards Garrison, Eugene McCann – who owns the Spar shop in the village – believes if money was pumped into the village to tackle such issues, it would make the place a lot safer. While there have been no accidents, Eugene has seen some close shaves outside his shop on Main Street.
A teenager has been attacked in north Belfast.
Police are treating the assault as a sectarian hate crime.
An 18-year-old boy was approached by a number of males unknown to him as he walked along Ardoyne Road at around 10.30pm on Saturday, 22 May.
A verbal exchange occurred between the group of males and the teenager and after this the teenager was assaulted. The victim attended hospital following the attack.
Inspector Reid said: This was a vicious assault which we are treating as a sectarian hate crime. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around 11:30pm and witnessed what occurred or who may have captured dashcam or mobile phone footage to call us on 101, quoting reference number 1048 of 23/05/21.
