2 OLD SCHOOL
I’ve been obsessed with Bakelite since my 20s. I have this radio and about 100 more in storage. At Leicester Polytechnic I studied textiles and there was tons of it around. I also collect snow globes when I travel – I got this Barack Obama one in a flea market in Los Angeles.

We film long days, particularly in finals week where you’re eating fish one day, meat the next, puddings the day after. I’d burn it off by cycling to Kentish Town where the studio was, but now we’re in Stratford-upon-Avon so I drive.

Scientists may tell you nature relaxes us, fresh air reduces congestion and helps us taste better.
And they say that the great outdoors is, in general, good for our well-being. I m not one to argue with science, but may I add the unmitigated pleasure of sun, breeze and (perhaps best of all) people-watching?
Those pleasures can be more easily obtained today, thanks to the state allowing restaurants during the pandemic to use alleyways, parking lots, sidewalks and even the street for alfresco dining.
