PUTRAJAYA: As the number of Covid-19 infections continues to rise globally, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has cautioned Malaysians against pandemic fatigue.
The Health director-general noted that in Malaysia alone, Covid-19 cases had surged in the past month, as 61,984 infections and 235 deaths were registered in April alone. “The country’s hospital capacity is also struggling, with many Klang Valley hospitals reporting more than 70% utilisation rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds.
“Up to May 3, the number of Covid-19 cases in the world has reached 152 million, while deaths have reached 3.2 million.
“This recent spike in Covid-19 cases is caused by pandemic fatigue, among others.
