Chattanooga Celebrates Opening Of BlueCross Healthy Place At Highland Park Monday, May 10, 2021 Representatives from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation joined staff and students from Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and Chattanooga Preparatory School, along with Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly, on Monday to celebrate the opening of the BlueCross Healthy Place at Highland Park. The ceremony was held in accordance with local COVID-19 guidelines for outdoor events. The BlueCross Foundation has invested $5 million in the project, including $4.2 million to build out the space and $840,000 for a maintenance fund. It is the first BlueCross Healthy Place project in the Chattanooga area and the first to be completed on privately owned land, although it will be open to the public.

Kelcey teaches middle school at McCallie - he’s also a Learning Center specialist who coaches football, basketball and track.
Montrell is director of community engagement at Chattanooga Prep - as well as head track coach there.
I spoke with them - and with two students who participated in the “Own Your History” after-school program: Cooper Gentle, a 7th grader at McCallie and Akeem Birt, an 8th grader at Chattanooga Prep.
