Debra Bales Watts, 63, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.
Debra graduated from Chattanooga State with a degree in Nursing. She worked for many years at TC Thompson Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Nursing Department. Debra enjoyed singing. She was a huge Alabama Football fan, always rooting for her “Crimson Tide”.
Debra was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Bales, her mother, Doris Shipley, her two brothers, Buddy and Wayne Bales, and her aunt, Diana Carlock.
Left behind to cherish Debra’s memory are her husband of 33 years, William Watts, sons, Tyler and Anthony “Tony” Watts, and James Kirkley, two grandchildren, siblings, Sharon Cummings, Allen Bales, and Ann Bales, a niece and several nephews and many dear friends.

Chattanooga State’s Caleb Grimes was awarded a $1,000 scholarship and named a 2020 ChaTech Scholar through the Chattanooga Technology Council (ChaTech).
Mr. Grimes is a 2018 graduate of Grundy County High School, a Tennessee Promise recipient and a Chattanooga State Cyber Defense program student on track to graduate in May 2021.
His interest in computers began during his freshman year in high school when he built a computer to play games with friends. “Learning the basic functions of a desktop computer was fun and interesting for me since I didn t have a clear (career) path laid out for me,” recalls Mr. Grimes. “After building one, it piqued my interest.” Using what he had already learned to repair and update computers for area residents, he became aware of the many people who were lured into downloading fraudulent software and othe

Graduated from Chattanooga State in 2015 and started at hits that same year! I’m a dog mom to an overweight rottweiler, Reese. I love to craft.. literally EVERYTHING. And I drive a jeep.

Chattanooga State Partners With EPB’s On Ramp Program Monday, December 14, 2020 - by Betty Proctor, Chattanooga State It’s been more than one year since EPB’s David Wade and Chattanooga State’s Bo Drake sat down to discuss the development of talent pools within our community. That discussion led to a Chattanooga State/EPB partnership designed to help identify individuals that would be a good fit for EPB’s inaugural nine-month program – Opportunity On Ramp.
According to Adam Collins, EPB’s talent and development lead, the traditional path has brought great talent into EPB, but he noted that there are other determined, hard-working individuals who have not had the chance to earn the prerequisite skills to join a company like EPB.
