Marion Police Dept. announces three promotions

MARION - Chief Richard Nighelli has announced the promotions of three members of the department.
Sgt. Jeffrey Habicht was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and Officers Larry C. Savery and Sean Day were each promoted to the rank of sergeant. All three were appointed to their new ranks during the virtual Marion Board of Selectmen meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 19. I d like to congratulate Lt. Habicht, Sgt. Savery and Sgt. Day on their promotions, Chief Nighelli said. Each brings several years of experience and valuable skills to their new positions and I am confident that they will continue to serve the Marion community well.

COHASSET Chief William Quigley reports that the Cohasset Police Department arrested a man yesterday who allegedly broke into a home early Sunday morning.
DYLAN DONAHUE, AGE 27, OF NORWELL is charged with:
Breaking and Entering into a Building in the Nighttime (Felony)
Possession of Burglarious Tools (Felony)
At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, Cohasset Police responded to a home on Atlantic Avenue for a report of a residential break-in in progress. The homeowner, who was not home at the time, received an alert via text from his Ring doorbell camera, showing a man unsuccessfully trying to enter his house.

Monday, Dec. 14
12:22 a.m.: A disturbance was reported on Chief Justice Cushing Highway.
9:23 a.m.: Fraud was reported on Elm Street.
5:04 p.m.: A fire was reported on King and Pond streets.
7:51 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on Chief Justice Cushing Highway.
7:56 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on Jerusalem Road.
Tuesday, Dec. 15
11:55 a.m.: A motor vehicle fire was reported on Aaron River Road.
When officers arrived, they discovered the man, later identified as Donahue, in the backyard. Police said they believe Donahue is the same man who d been seen on doorbell camera footage successfully breaking into the same home at about 1:30 a.m. that morning. The Cohasset Police Department is investigating a residential break-in that was captured on the homeowner s Ring front door camera.
In that incident, police said, the burglar was wearing a mask that Ring doorbell footage showed he d removed as he broke into the home.
Police are now working with the homeowners to determine what, if anything, may have been stolen in the two incidents.
