Premium Content Subscriber only IF anyone deserves to represent Australia, it s tireless, highly motivated Ipswich long distance athlete Clay Dawson. He has come so close but is still so far from his ultimate goal. Having won the 2019 Australian 100km race in Wangaratta, Dawson dared to dream of lining up for Australia at the world titles in The Netherlands. The Karalee runner was on the verge of achieving that ambition last year before COVID struck. His hopes of taking his supportive wife Michelle and young family overseas were shattered. As someone approaching 40 who enjoys training with rapidly emerging middle distance runner Jude Thomas, Dawson summed up his predicament perfectly.

Ipswich spirit rises even after nailbiting footy defeats

Premium Content Subscriber only WHEN you are a dedicated multi-tasker like Anne O Donnell, having a run with a group of close-knit footballers is something to look forward to. Even after a one-point loss, O Donnell enjoys being part of an Ipswich women s side competing strongly each week in the QFAW Division 2 North series. I m loving it. Great team, great environment, O Donnell said. It s a nice way just to relax, get a bit of that pressure off and just go and enjoy the footy. It s the camaraderie, being with other teammates. We all get along really well . . . we gel on and off the field.
