  A twenty-four-year-old up and coming musician in Cape Coast, the Central regional capital, has been stabbed to death. The deceased, Emmanuel Aikins, aka Unruly Grank and Soft Metal in music circles, was stabbed last Sunday, at the Orange Beach Resort, near the Cape Coast Castle over a misunderstanding between him and Bright Ellis, a 27-year-old artisan. He was rushed to the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. The body has since been deposited at the Bakaano mortuary for autopsy while Ellis has been arrested as the police launch investigations into the matter. The late budding musician, who was well known in Cape Coast and was also very popular and active on social media, was managed by Highness Music.

A speaker event with Dr. Gabby Yearwood, director of Undergraduate Studies for the University of Pittsburgh Department of Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Program will take place on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. Those interested can register to attend and participate at the TAMIU website. Additionally, a movie screening is slated for Friday. According to Yearwood, during his lecture, the questions “What are the ways in which liberation has been theorized, dreamt and longed for in Black social and intellectual life?” and “What can the actions of Black people inform us about how to think critically about liberation?” will be discussed.

Killer of Cape Coast Dance Hall Artiste remanded

Killer of Cape Coast Dance Hall Artiste remanded LISTEN FEB 10, 2021 A Cape Coast District Magistrate Court has remanded a 32-year-old artisan into prison custody for allegedly killing of a 24-year-old Cape Coast Dancehall artiste, Mr Emmanuel Aikins. The plea of Benjamin Bright Ellis was not taken and he would make his next appearance on Friday, February 26, 2021. Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Gadzo, told the court presided over by Mr James Botah that the complainant, who is also the accused person, resided at North Ola, a suburb of Cape Coast while the deceased lived at Amanful. ASP Gadzo said on Sunday, February 7, at about 1430 hours a misunderstanding ensued between Ellis and Mr Aikins at Orange Beach Resort located at Bakaano Beach near Cape Coast Castle.
