The small number of ‘South Africa’ variant cases in North Wales has increased by one, which was not travel-related. There are no cases of the much more worrying variants, but it is to be expected that new variants will emerge until transmission of the disease is completely suppressed.

Second dose of vaccinations set to roll out from next week in North Wales

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board says it on track to reach the target set by Welsh Government to have offered COVID-19 vaccinations to the first four priority groups by the middle this month.
So far 160,395 people the first four priority groups have now received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
These groups are made of the over 80s, care home staff and residents, the over 70s, healthcare workers and those who were asked to shield during the pandemic.

Wrexham’s local vaccination centre now operating six days a week – with those over 75 being contacted from this week
Wrexham’s Local Vaccination Centre (LVC) will now operate six days a week as the Covid-19 vaccine rollout gathers pace.
The facility, based at the Catrin Finch Centre on the Wrexham Glyndwr University campus, opened on Tuesday 26 January.
Initially open for three days a week, over 300 people were vaccinated last Thursday at the LVC.
However, with supplies becoming more readily available, the workforce will increase and the centre will now be open for six days.
The centre, which is currently administering the Pfizer vaccine, is complementing the work being done by every GP surgery in the town who are continuing to contact and vaccinate patients who fall within the top 4 priority groups.
