What to expect with BMW s first all-electric Gran Coupé, BMW i4

With the shift towards alternative energy resources to power the powerful luxury supercars, BMW has taken a step ahead to create the brand’s first all-electric Gran CoupÃ© â the BMW i4. The brand isn’t a stranger to acing electric cars, be it the iconic BMW i3 or the i8. The 2022 BMW i4 is a four-door Gran CoupÃ© competing with Tesla Motors 3 and the Audi e-Tron GT. The vehicle is slated to be launched later in 2021. The beautiful specimen was introduced in March at the BMW Group Annual Conference in Munich. The BMW i4 will be accompanied by a BMW M Performance model as well. The BMW i4 model line will be available in different versions covering ranges of up to 590km (WLTP) and up to 300 miles (EPA). With a power output of up to 390kW / 530HP, the BMW i4 can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in around 4 seconds, only 0.5 seconds behind its Tesla competitor. BMW Treads Sustainable Path with Recycled Fishing Nets

Sustainability has become a strategic priority for the automotive industry, with automotive organizations increasingly using sustainable materials, and 62% of them claiming to have a comprehensive sustainability strategy, according to Capgemini. Since 2016, the BMW Group has used Econyl yarn, based on recycled polyamide (PA), to make the floors and floor mats for the BMW i3, BMW iX, and other models. Committed to sustainability and the process, Daniela Bohlinger, Head of Sustainability for BMW Group Design, visited Aquafil CEO Giulio Bonazzi in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where Econyl yarn is produced out of recycled fishing nets and other polyamide waste. Compared to petroleum-based PAs, manufacturing Econyl yarn from recycled materials reportedly results in an up to 90% reduction in global warming potential.
