A driver high on cocaine and alcohol caused a crash which killed a father and seriously injured his teenage son.
Fisherman Andrew Montgomery was on bail for drink-driving at the time of the crash on Skye on 8 August 2018.
The 33-year-old drove his Audi Q7 at high speed and repeatedly drove on the wrong side of the road.
Ewen Mackay, 54, died and his son Patrick, who was 16 at the time, was flown to hospital after their van was struck and went into a ditch.

AN Appeal Court judge has ruled that there were no special circumstances to warrant a stay of a judge’s order that the WASA pay TT Security Services Ltd over $140 million arising out of debt owed from contracts dating back to 2010.
In a recent decision, Justice of Appeal Mark Mohammed refused WASA’s application for a stay of execution of a judge’s 2019 judgment, pending the hearing and determination of an appeal it filed.
In affidavits filed in support of its application, WASA said the payment of the judgment debt would cause severe and irreversible hardship and/or the financial ruin of WASA, which would have catastrophic effects on WASA’s service to the public.

Convicted rapist loses appeal over 2006 rape

A 39-year-old man who was sentenced to a little over 11 years in prison for raping a 14-year-old girl over 15 years ago has lost his appeal.
In an oral decision on Tuesday, Justices of Appeal Alice Yorke-Soo Hon, Mark Mohammed, and Maria Wilson, during a virtual hearing, dismissed all the grounds of appeal advanced by Peter Andrew Davis, who complained that the judge who presided over his trial made several errors which led to his conviction.
Wilson, who delivered the ruling, went through each of the grounds of complaint, dismissing them all.
Davis was represented by attorney Derrick Redman, who had argued on his client’s behalf that the judge failed to consider that it would have been difficult to provide an alibi, as prosecutors charged his client with committing the offence on an unknown date during a period of almost three weeks in May 2006.
