Gladstone croc investigation
Wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Science (DES) are investigating a reported crocodile sighting at Ibis Park boat ramp in Gladstone on 12 April 2021.
Wildlife officers conducted a spotlight survey of the area last night and found no sign of the animal. Recent warning signs have been installed and wildlife officers will continue monitoring the area.
Remember, you are responsible for your own safety in Croc Country. Local fishers are reminded to properly dispose of fish scraps and never discard them at boat ramps.
DES is asking members of the public to report crocodile sightings as soon as possible by calling 1300 130 372 or using the Croc Watch App. DES investigates all reports it receives.

UPDATE: Wildlife officers are pulling out all the stops to catch a 2.5m crocodile which attacked a swimmer at Cairns Lake Placid. Paramedics say the 44-year-old man was very lucky to have escaped with superficial injuries after he was forced to prise the crocodile s jaws from his head on Thursday. Dr Matthew Brien, program coordinator for northern wildlife operations with the Department of Environment and Science, said there was no doubt a crocodile was responsible.
CONCERNS have been raised after footage showing a crocodile lunge at a fisherman was captured on the banks of the Ross River. The video which was shared to YouTube last week was captured at Kelso and shows what is believed to be a freshwater crocodile lying still in the water before it lunges at the man unprovoked. Wildlife officers from the Department of Environment and Science investigated a crocodile sighting in that area after a member of the public reported a potential crocodile sighting at Framara Park. A department spokeswoman said the sighting was reported on December 31, 2020 and no further action was taken following the investigation.
