North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust’s Keeping Patients Connected project
While hospital visiting remains suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions, north Cumbria’s NHS trust is working to keep patients and their families connected.
New volunteers have recently been recruited to the âKeeping Patients Connectedâ project and the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is encouraging more people to apply to become a volunteer. The project aims to facilitate patients having virtual visits with their families and friends using iPads.
Nicole Cottingham, volunteer coordinator for Keeping Patients Connected, said: âThe project aims to help our patients and their families but also we hope it will help take the pressure off busy ward staff.
Become a Lake District volunteer
Do you have some spare time and a love for the outdoors?
If the answer is yes, you could be one of the Lake District National Park Authority’s 150 new visitor support volunteers.Â
Visitor Support Volunteers are needed to work within the wider âSafer Lakesâ team to help guide and advise all visitors in some of the busiest places in the Lake District.   Â
Volunteers are needed for the following areas:Â
Grasmere and Rydal.
Keswick to Threlkeld.
Volunteers need to be confident and comfortable talking to the public, have a passion for the Lake District and be willing to share their enthusiasm for and knowledge of the National Park with all visitors.Â
The Building Better Opportunities Getting Cumbria to Work (BBO GCtW) are offering a heartfelt message to bring people to their new project focused on people find employment. Produced by Cumbria Council for Voluntary Service, the BBO GCtW project is focused helping people facing multiple and complex barriers in order to find them work. “Come and use us - we are still here to offer support during the national lockdown.” The scheme is aimed at people living in the Barrow and the South Lakes aged 18 and above, who are either unemployed or economically inactive. BBO GCtW project manager Natalia Wealleans-Turner said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has brought its own set of challenges for people.
