The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Col. Paul Hemba retd, who disclosed this to Journalists on Saturday also said that a little boy was apprehended for openly grazing 60 cows at Yelwata. According to the Security Adviser, the cattle rustler had confessed to rustling the cows for destroying his farm crops. He also said the suspect wanted to sell the cows at a cattle market as compensation for his destroyed crops.

Samuel Ortom, told newsmen on Saturday in Makurdi that Livestock Guards arrested Ukua and his little son while they were on their way to sell the cattle. He said Ukua told the Livestock Guards that he seized the cattle on his farm as they were destroying his crops and was on his way to sell them to recover his losses. Hemba said government was not satisfied with Ukua’s explanation and that he would be treated as a cattle rustler.

Benue impounds 376 cows over anti-open grazing law John Charles, Makurdi Benue State Government on Wednesday raised the alarm of massive deployment of cows into the state. The Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu who disclosed this to journalists in Makurdi said that 376 cows have been impounded for flouting the state anti-open grazing law. Abounu said that state livestock guards apprehended the cows between January, 23 and 26, 2021, at Kasima in Guma Local Government Area of the state. While stating that six herdsmen have also been arrested and handed over to police, the Deputy Governor said that there is an influx of herdsmen on the bank of River Benue in Agatu and Gwer West axis of the state.
