More than 10,000 Minnesota teens have been vaccinated

The Minnesota Department of Health has expressed concern about the increased positivity rates among the school-age population, and encourages parents of 16- and 17-year-olds to get their students vaccinated. Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for those ages 16-17. Over the past week in St. Louis County, those age 4 and under had nine new cases; ages 5-9 had 22 new cases; ages 10-14 had 11 new cases; and those ages 15-19 had 28 new cases. Statewide COVID-19 cases over the past week by age group were: age 4 and under, 396; ages 5-9, 626; ages 10-14, 920; and ages 15-19, 1,176. From March 28 through April 3, there were 796 more positive cases in schools statewide, with 120 new cases among staff and 676 new cases among students. The state reported one staff member spent time in the ICU and one student was hospitalized last week.

Knoxville City Council Approves VA Campus Concept and more at Monday Meeting

The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday. They passed a concept from Confluence for the VA campus, setting the stage for the project. Council member Dylan Morse says it’s a big step in the process. “There’s movement happening with the county and demolition contractors, it’s a really exciting time to be in Knoxville. I would make a motion to approve Concept 1 Master Planning VA Development.” In other business, they set April 19th as a public hearing date for a Knoxville Economic Development Corporation proposed offer to purchase the former East Elementary School site. They tabled a discussion on a funding agreement with Knoxville Economic Development Authority at $50,000 per year for five years to assist in housing development endeavors. They approved a goal setting report compiled from previous work sessions.

Eaton board updates on remote students, CTC By Braden Moles - bmoles@aimmediamidwest.com EATON The Eaton Community Schools Board of Education provided updates on current COVID-19 cases within the district and recent happenings with CTC during their regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 8. Superintendent Jeff Parker said there are 185 students that are still remote as of Feb. 8. “[Eaton] Middle School is down from what it was, but they were up just a tad bit at East [Elementary School] and holding somewhat steady in the other buildings. So, we’re at 185 remote learners at this time.” Parker said that COVID-19 cases are also down significantly within the district.
