Former Spark Therapeutics head of ophthalmic medical affairs, responsible for the development and approval of Luxturna™, to lead development of SparingVision s proprietary asset, SPVN06, and further pipeline development
Paris, February 04, 2021 – SparingVision (the Company ), a genomic medicine company developing vision saving treatments for ocular diseases, today announces the appointment of Dr Daniel C. Chung as Chief Medical Officer ( CMO ). Dr Chung brings a wealth of experience in successful ocular gene therapy development, having led the global medical strategy for ophthalmology at Spark Therapeutics ( Spark ), a leading rare disease gene therapy company, where he played a pivotal role in the clinical development and approval of Luxturna™, the first gene therapy to be approved in the US for a genetic disease. Spark was acquired by Roche in 2019 for $4.3 billion.
McCaulley has been appointed to the position of Chief of Police for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

CLEVELAND After more than 30 years on the job, Cleveland Division of Police Deputy Chief Deon McCauley is retiring.
Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson, Director of Public Safety Karrie D. Howard and Police Chief Calvin D. Williams made the announcement on Thursday morning, thanking Deputy Chief McCaulley for his years of service.
“On behalf of the citizens of the City of Cleveland, I want to congratulate Deputy Chief Deon McCaulley for his appointment as the new Chief of Police for the Cleveland Clinic. I know that he will do a great job in his new position, just as he has done here for more than 30 years at the City of Cleveland,” said Mayor Jackson.
Telkes, daughter of Aladar Telkes and Maria Laban de Telkes, was raised in Budapest. She studied physical chemistry at the University of Budapest, graduating with a B.A. in 1920 and a Ph.D. in 1924. She became an instructor at the institution in 1924 but decided to immigrate to the United States after visiting a relative, who served at the time as the Hungarian consul in Cleveland. In 1925 she accepted a position as a biophysicist for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she worked with American surgeon George Washington Crile to create a photoelectric device that recorded brain waves.
Telkes became an American citizen in 1937. That same year she became a research engineer at Westinghouse Electric, where she developed instruments that converted heat into electrical energy; however, she made her first forays into solar energy research in 1939.
