Planning Clinton County’s future: All community members invited to help shape long-range plan Submitted article The Clinton County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) is seeking the public’s ideas for the future of the county as it kicks off planning for Clinton County 2040, a long-range comprehensive planning process. A comprehensive plan is the broadest public policy document a community can create for its future physical development that considers the input of community members. The plan update will address the future built character and land uses in the county, and it will present recommendations on other topics including economic development, housing, transportation, parks and open space, agricultural preservation, and more.

Expanding access to public transit eyed in Clinton County By Gary Huffenberger - ghuffenberger@wnewsj.com Katter WILMINGTON At the Wilmington Transit System (WTS), there’s interest in exploring the feasibility of extending passenger service to residents around Clinton County. A year ago Clinton County Community Action announced Allison Katter had been hired as Clinton County mobility manager, a new local position made possible by a community transportation initiative and an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) grant. In her role, she’s responsible for increasing mobility and access to transportation for all residents of Clinton County. The first meeting in 2021 of the Coordinated Transportation Council was held virtually this week. Katter and new WTS Director Larry Dale Bennington spoke about the desirability of expanding public transit within the county.

Coalition on Homelessness now underway in Clinton County Albanese WILMINGTON A Coalition on Homelessness is now organized and had its first meeting, with hopes that light will be shed this year on where to customize efforts for those who are unsheltered here. Clinton County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) Executive Director Taylor Stuckert, Clinton County Homeless Shelter Executive Director Denise Stryker, and homelessness consultant Tom Albanese gave an overview Wednesday to county commissioners about the local initiative to lessen homelessness. The Coalition’s steering committee is comprised of people from the city and county governments, the Wilmington Area Ministerial Association, law enforcement, mental health and substance abuse services, an individual who has been homeless, and there are a couple general seats still available. They will assemble monthly.
