The pretence we can eliminate COVID-19 is “so damaging,” according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.
His comments come after Victoria was plunged into a state-wide seven-day lockdown at 12am last Friday.
“So the lockdown so far has done very little except ruin schooling, disrupt businesses, hit casual workers, ruin funerals, wreck weddings, hurt the economy and all the rest of it,” Mr Kenny said.
“So the real question remains, why is Victoria in lockdown? And what next?
“This pretence that we can eliminate the virus is so damaging.”
The Wuhan lab leak is “the more comforting scenario” because the thought of a pandemic springing up so quickly anytime from an animal market is “far more troubling,” according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“You and I are glad that all the evidence of the past year is now being examined properly in the public debate,” he said.
“You and I are glad that Joe Biden and the Democrats have given up on a year of politically motivated denial, and as President, Biden has now ordered a proper investigation into the lab leak theory.
“But, incredibly, a former Australian defence minister doesn't sound so thrilled.”
Christopher Pyne in his weekly column wrote in The Advertiser, warning the investigation may test the relationship between the US and China and saying that “for the sake of peace” he hopes “a pangolin or bat did it”.
“What a strange take,” Mr Kenny said.
“China should be more forthcoming.”
The ABC takes your tax dollars to “confect artificial stories designed to insult you,” and instead of stopping it, the national broadcaster’s chair “indulges and promotes it,” according to Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“With more than a billion dollars of your money coming its way each year, the ABC is always looking for new ways to spend it,” Mr Kenny said.
“And while it has enormous trouble just reporting the news sometimes, it also likes to cook some up - which is one reason it does a survey called Australia Talks.
“It’s really just a low rent way of concocting stories, based on getting people to fill out online surveys.”
Mr Kenny pointed to an early Australia Talks story, which said three quarters of Australians “reckon we’re living in a racist country”.
“So they take your tax dollars, to confect artificial stories, designed to insult you,” he said.
“Instead of stopping this sort of corrosive indulgence, the ABC chair indulges and promotes it.�
Victorian Liberal MP Tim Smith says he “disgusted and outraged” by the callousness and lack of humanity the state government has displayed by not allowing an exemption on numbers for the funeral of a boy who drowned.
The 8-year-old boy, Cooper Onyett, drowned recently at a school camp.
His family requested an exemption to have over 10 people at the funeral, but their request was rejected by authorities.
“I want to make it very clear that I’m in no way shape or form politicising this young boy’s death,” Mr Smith told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“But I am so utterly disgusted and outraged with the callousness and just the lack of humanity.
“Surely, someone could have just said yes to his poor family … surely someone could have intervened to ensure this family had a funeral for their son.
“I just can’t believe it.”
