STORRS –The Connecticut Repertory Theatre, in conjunction with the Human Rights Institute/Dodd Impact, is presenting a virtual performance of Sophocles’ “Antigone.”
CONTRIBUTED
This unique production was both adapted and directed by Gary M. English.
The Greek tragedy offers a heart-wrenching portrait of a young woman and her refusal to sacrifice her principles when she is ordered to meet questionable but legal demands of a state in crisis.
The theater’s production takes a contemporary look at the conflict between two points of view regarding the rights and responsibilities of citizens. In this tale of a fractured family, the characters navigate an ethereal world where issues of gender, race, violence and trauma are woven through this often political discussion.
