Knoxville resident Christine Meyers just got back from a trip visiting her family in Florida. I think that people are just feeling more secure, and they re just can t wait to get out and go somewhere, said Meyers as she picked up her luggage at Des Moines International Airport on Friday.
While Meyers has traveled a few times during the pandemic, Houston resident Shelley Von Dielingen who s visiting Iowa for a special surprise party is just now taking to the skies.

The young ladies of the Teaneck Flag Twirlers are about to step into their part of an historical inauguration.
The nation will inaugurate its first vice president of Black and Asian American roots. In this town, being a twirler is a legacy your mom, aunt, sister was probably one and it s an honor, Teaneck Flag Twirlers Advisor Christine Mayers said.
The team applied for a spot in the parade, practiced their craft and crossed their fingers.

Beam Suntory-owned Courvoisier Cognac has partnered with civil rights organisation the National Urban League to award grants to five minority-owned businesses impacted by the pandemic.

During the Small Business Entrepreneurship Summit, Courvoisier and the National Urban League awarded US$5,000 grants to five firms across the US.
These included: Kristin Meyers of Bhakti Wellness Yoga, which provides yoga and mindfulness training to organisations, institutions, and individuals; Arion Long from Femly, which offers plant-based alternatives to feminine care products; and Ebony Johnson of Career Connector Pro, an organisation that provides employment transition services for women.
Thereâs a noticeable new glow along North Broadway, as a $13.6 million renovation is finally complete at Alberta Bair Theater. The original building, a former Fox movie theater built during the Great Depression, is now encased in floor-to-ceiling glass walls jutting nearly 20 feet from the original brick exterior.
The project, which brought the 89-year-old building up to code and enlarged the theater, tackled everything from upgraded lighting and sound to new seats, expanded restrooms, additional concessions, a new box office entrance on North Broadway, and numerous enhancements to the facility to support modern touring performances.
The theater now awaits its formal debut, a fate tied closely to the pandemic.
