CHENNAI: With less than a week left for the Covid-19 vaccination drive that kicks off on January 16, many private clinics, specially ‘single doctor clinics’ across the State, have not yet updated the particulars of their healthcare workers in the CoWIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) portal.
This has prompted the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMRHS) to send notices to such individual private establishments on Saturday, requesting them to submit the relevant details within 48 hours.“Failure to provide data in time will attract further action as per the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments Act,” the notice warned.

The Health Department has decided to drop the disciplinary proceedings initiated against 114 government medical officers for participating in an indefinite strike last year.
Several doctors affiliated to the Federation of Government Doctors Association went on a strike to put forward their demands, including proper implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression scheme, in October 2019. The Health Department had then said participating in the strike would attract violation of Rule 20 and 22 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1973.
As the doctors went ahead with the strike, the Health Department initiated disciplinary proceedings against 114 of them 32 doctors from institutions under the Directorate of Medical Education, 31 from the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services and 51 from the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
Pelican Bay inmates will be funding a handful of Christmas wishes this year, after the Pelican Bay Athletic Organization handed out checks to two different gift-giving charities last week.
The organization raises funds from inmates at the Pelican Bay State Prison. The organization brings in food from restaurants and grocery stores, and inmates purchase the food with money they earn in jobs while incarcerated.
The outcome is a substantial chunk of change raised by the organization: With this round of fundraising, the organization donated over $16,000 to Santaâs Workshop in Crescent City and $4,000 to the Oasis Shelter in Gold Beach.

Information Commission directs officials to provide details The Tamil Nadu Information Commission has directed the State health authorities to share the expertise and other qualifications of four senior doctors and other medical staff members who treated a patient till his death at a private hospital here in 2018.
Thatavarthi Venkateswaralu, of Nawabpet in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, wrote to the Public Information Officer, Directorate of Medical & Rural Health Services, Tamil Nadu, stating that his father Thatavarthi Srinivasalu was treated at Vijaya Health Centre from April 19 to 22, 2018.
