A federal judge in New York City has ruled against a former income partner with Katten Muchin Rosenman in the federal government’s bid to garnish his retirement accounts to help pay a $10.4 million restitution order.
U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of the Eastern District of New York ruled Friday that Evan Greebel couldn’t prevent the government’s garnishment following the lawyer’s conviction for conspiracy to commit wire and securities fraud in connection with his representation of jailed drug company CEO Martin Shkreli.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (CNS) A federal judge in Brooklyn Feb. 9 permanently blocked New York state capacity limits for worship at Orthodox synagogues in areas with high rates of COVID-19 infections.
The permanent injunction applies to all of the houses of worship in these areas in the state and is one of the first in the country to stop percentage-of-occupancy limits on worship attendance.
Last year, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo placed restrictions on indoor worship services in areas with high COVID-19 rates to 10 people in the most affected areas and 25 people in slightly less affected areas.
New York state limits on religious gatherings in areas with high rates of COVID-19 infections were blocked by a federal judge in Brooklyn, after the U.S. Supreme Court recently sided with churches and synagogues challenging such measures.

New York attorney Geoffrey Potter was astonished to read that former President Donald Trump had commuted the prison sentence of Adriana Shayota, who was convicted in 2016 by a jury of a conspiracy to distribute counterfeit bottles of 5-hour Energy, the liquid dietary supplement.
Potter was intricately familiar with the nationwide scheme because he had sued Shayota and dozens of other people in U.S. District Court for infringing on 5-hour Energy trademarks ultimately obtaining judgments exceeding $20 million, while also settling with the majority of the defendants for undisclosed amounts.
