BELOIT, Wis. For the last several months, health officials at pop-up vaccine clinics weren’t seeing a lot of people show up to get vaccinated. But recently, that’s changed.
“Vaccination rates are not declining as they were a few weeks ago. They’re starting to be steady or even increase a little bit,” said Rock County Public Health Nurse Jennifer Weadge.
Weadge said the pop-up clinic hosted at Hackett Elementary School Wednesday was the best turnout she’d seen in months. Close to 20 people showed up to get the vaccine, compared to the six person average at other pop-up clinics in previous weeks.

Steve Milano has submitted his resignation.
Canton Local Board of Education will discuss and likely accept his request Monday night. The meeting begins 7 p.m. in the Canton South High cafeteria.
In 2015, Milano was hired to replace Kim Redmond who retired. Prior to that, Milano was in charge of the Louisville City School District.
He received a new contract that went into effect Aug. 1, 2020, at annual base salary of $127,000.
Under Milano s leadership, the district opened a new high school in 2017 and broke ground on new construction of a middle school last September. The old middle school will be renovated into an elementary school.
