Wisconsin Rapids City Times Local students receive full ride through caddying

GLENVIEW, IL– Three local students have been awarded the Evans Scholarship, a full housing and tuition college grant offered to golf caddies, following an online selection interview.
“Each of these deserving young students epitomizes what our program has been about since its creation in 1930,” said Western Golf Association Chairman Kevin Buggy. “Their dedication, hard work and sacrifice is humbling, and we are honored to be able to help them pursue their dreams.”
Recipients include: Kaleb Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, Carson Parks of Port Edwards, and Katelyn Trowbridge of Milladore. All are caddies at Sand Valley Golf Resort.

The past 12 months have challenged the world in more ways that we could have ever anticipated as we cheered in the New Year on January 1.
The pandemic, police brutality against Black people and a Presidential election that divided the nation are just a handful of the events that have overshadowed hopes for the year and brought hardships, unimaginable pain and loss to many in the U.S.
But while there have been job losses, death, illness and anger, we have not entirely lost our capacity for joy. Although many of us would rather forget 2020, amidst the turmoil there have been many, sometimes surprising, moments of hope and triumph.

We watched a high-stakes election play out and sometimes we just wanted a distraction from it all.
