Check out COWBOY BOY’s “INCONVENIENT” and its nature-themed lyric video below. Plus, read an exclusive interview with Maria and Nevin about their latest release and their upcoming album.
What personal experiences, if any, helped inspire your lyrics? What did your creative process look like, and how did you two bring your vision to life?
OLIVIA MARIA: I would consider COWBOY BOY to be an almost embarrassingly honest and personal project, so lyrically, it’s all drawn directly from my own life experience. There are a lot of feelings being processed in real time and a lot of reflection on the nature of my relationships with others and myself.
Maddie Ross captures the emotional rush of falling for a crush on her sugary new single Vroom Vroom. As the title implies, it s the sort of infectious bop you won t be able to resist singing along with when it comes on in the car. I gotta let you know, baby / I like the vroom vroom, she coyly admits to her crush over vibrant production reminiscent of Robyn and Carly Rae Jepsen. The lyrics are
just suggestive enough to raise eyebrows and that s intentional.
“The chorus is meant to be sexy and playful, Ross tells PopCrush. I definitely was implying the desire to be alone with your thoughts and a vibrator!”

Electro-pop singer MNDR has released a new song, “Hell to Be You Baby,” the title track from her next album, set to arrive June 18th via Wondersound Records.
Co-produced by Mark Ronson, “Hell to Be You Baby” boasts a distinct early Nineties dance feel. A restless drum groove, gritty synths, and a big house piano anchor the tune, while still allowing it to expand into headier spaces.
