Busy season in Europe culminates with national championships

Over the last two weeks, national championships in Europe followed the World Cup and closed out the alpine competition season for many racers. For some countries, it’s been two years since national championships have been held. While many World Cup athletes chose to kick back and forgo these events after a long season, here’s a recap of the all the action from across the pond. The U.S. commences its national championships next week in Aspen.
Sweden
A consolidated championship race took place in Are for the Swedish national championship after the first three days of races were canceled. Six athletes across three events were crowned national champions in downhill, GS, and slalom.

15 teams for a Team Event. Switzerland already qualified for the quarter final Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), February 16, 2021 (MOREL)- 15 teams registered to the Cortina FIS Ski World Championships team event starting tomorrow at 12.15 pm. Unlike today s parallel, there won’t be qualifications.Switzerland, top nation at the moment, has already moved to the next round as there’s an odd number of teams taking part to the event. Anyway, the Swiss will partecipate to the first run, but with a definitive qualification to the quarter finals: they will challenge the winner between Canada and Czech Republic. Austria - silver medal in Åre - will face Belgium in the first round. Italy - bronze in Sweden - will face Finland. Switzerland - the current champions - will partecipate with Wendy Holdener, Camille Rast, Jasmine Suter, Semyel Bissig, Tanguy Nef and Sandro Simonet. (ends)
