Grand Rapids Cider Bar Opening This Weekend (Finally!)
I ve been excited about a new cider tap house coming to Midtown Grand Rapids since I first heard about it back in fall 2019 well, the new bar finally has a grand opening date set!
Pux Taphouse shared to Facebook that they held a soft opening over the weekend and will officially be open to the public this coming weekend.

The Schaefer family has been has been growing apples at their 300 acres of orchards in the Sparta and Conklin area since 1855; in 2012 they launched Pux Ciders.
Obviously, their plan to open a cider tasting room in GR was delayed by the pandemic. As Wood TV 8 reports, they d originally planned to open in May of 2020.
Manistee resident among appointments to Migrant Labor Housing Advisory Board

LANSING The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director Gary McDowell appointed 14 members to the Migrant Labor Housing Advisory Board this month.
The appointees represent five agriculture seats, five migrant labor seats and four seats from other migrant agricultural worker related organizations.
The board will advise the department and the state on ways to alleviate obstacles in the development of adequate migrant labor housing throughout Michigan and improve conditions for the workers who are essential to Michigan’s agricultural sector. This may include recommendations on legislation or other measures.

35 year old Adam Gurney was found in the middle of the road around 11 a.m., yelling incoherently and began fighting with the Deputy.

The Deputy reported Gurney had blood on his hands he claimed had come from his “dead girlfriend. Authorities say they determined Gurney was under the influence of drugs and found his girlfriend at a home about a mile away with serious injuries to her face. She declined medical treatment.
Gurney is charged with felony assault, misdemeanor resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
