Earlier today, the Blues were linked with central defender Gavin Gunning, while Swansea were claimed to be targeting winger Gary Mackay-Steven and striker Johnny Russell was also said to be receiving interest.
While some sources in Scotland continue to report that the SPL club has received enquiries for some or all of those players, the Terrors statement reads: “Dundee United are disappointed to read what we regard as unsubstantiated rumours in today s media relating to our players. Dundee United are reported to have quoted the Blues a fee of £900,000 for left-sided defender Gavin Gunning. Blues boss Paul Jewell and chief scout Steve McCall are said to have had the 21-year-old Irishman watched on at least three occasions recently, including last Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Celtic.
Dubliner Gunning played youth football with St Joseph’s Boys Club and Crumlin United before moving to England and joining the Blackburn Rovers Academy in 2006.
