Eagle County School District hired two new principals. Greg Doan was chosen to lead Eagle Valley High School and Amy Vanwel was named principal at Berry Creek Middle School.
The renovation at Riverview Apartments in EagleVail was completed. The units had new carpet, kitchen cabinets and mold problems at the complex had been resolved.
On Friday, the Eagle County School District announced that Avon Elementary, Eagle Valley High School and Red Canyon High School recently sent COVID-19 notices to their communities after being notified of positive cases by Public Health. Across the three schools, 23 students will quarantine.
In each incident, contact tracing determined that those in close contact with a positive case need to quarantine. Those needing to quarantine received orders to follow from Public Health specific to their incident. Students in quarantine will be able to return to school following the February break on Monday, Feb. 22.
Avon Elementary School sent notifications home last week after learning that a student tested positive. The positive case was last in school on Monday, Feb. 8. Eleven students will quarantine related to this incident. No staff members were determined to be close contacts.

The Eagle Town Board launched the search for a new town manager, despite concerns voiced by some residents that the Jan. 22 deadline for applications was too short and the plan to fill the position prior to the April election was ill-advised.
Former Eagle Valley High School teachers and coaches John Rammuno and Randy Rohweder were the honorees for the annual Fire and Ice Gala.
A study by ConsumerAffairs.com found that Eagle was the second-safest, burglary proof town in Colorado.

There was a new pizza place in Eagle. Pickup’s Pizza was the brainchild of a group of four friends to bring Chicago-style thin crust pies to the valley.
Seven-year-old Kara Schiedegger was the sixth-place finisher in her age group at the Grand Nationals BMX event in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She trained at the Eagle BMX park.

A number of Gypsum businesses banded together to launch a shop local campaign called Gypsum Bucks. The merchants offered special deals to customers who enrolled in the program.
Eagle Police released a surveillance photograph of a suspect in a series of burglaries committed around town. Then acting on a tip, officers searched a Wall Street residence and recovered several items of stolen property.
