Town of Darien Receives Support from United Way of Coastal Fairfield County Written by United Way of Coastal Fairfield County
United Way of Coastal Fairfield County has awarded the Town of Darien a grant to support residents impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The presentation was made to Ali Ramsteck, Director of Human Services.
Representing the local United Way were two Darien residents, Sam Tingley, a member of the non-profit’s Board of Directors, and Michelle Litt, Director of Impact Philanthropy.
“We are so grateful for this grant to support Darien families,” commented Ramsteck. “Many have lost income during the pandemic and are struggling to keep their heads above water. They need assistance with utilities and housing costs, so they won’t fall behind and be vulnerable once the moratoria are lifted.”

Tell us a little bit about yourself. My name is Mrs Holly Pollock. I am happily married with two beautiful children. I finished school in 2004 and went to Liverpool where I studied Psychology and Early Years. After I graduated, I started working in Drumragh as a Learning Support Assistant. Whilst working I was able to study part time and completed my MSc in Applied Psychology. I also was seconded and worked for two and a half years as a psychology assistant for the SELB. It has been a busy 13 years.
What makes a great teacher? I have been a classroom assistant for 13 years. A great teacher listens and knows their students, the same applies to all staff within school. We are all role models, and this is important to remember.

Imagine being homeless and still having to do school work in order to graduate. Or just advance to the next grade level.
Family Promise of Clark County, a nonprofit based in Camas that helps families experiencing homelessness, jumped in to help students by launching its FP Cares Educational Services in November. Along with that came its Learning Support Center.
