The Department of Transport and Main Roads has released new artist’s impressions for the Rockhampton Ring Road and is now calling on the community to provide feedback.
New images show an overpass solution at the Alexandra Street connection just east of the Fitzroy River Bridge, replacing the original plan for traffic lights. Rockhampton Ring Road - Alexandra Street overpass. PIC: TMR
Traffic heading northbound on the 17.4km Ring Road, towards Yeppoon and Marlborough, will now have two lanes to turn left and go straight ahead at the Parkhurst traffic lights, compared to the single lanes for these directions shown in the original flyover video.

A Central Queensland hair salon has opened its doors at a third full-time location, and is offering a wide range of products to cater to a wider demographic.
Statix Hairworkz owner Vanessa Sherwood said the new store in Yeppoon Central Shopping Centre was completely booked out on her first morning on Monday, April 19.
“Everyone’s been incredibly welcoming, there’s been a lot of curiosity,” Ms Sherwood said.
It has been about six to eight weeks in the making, and Ms Sherwood said the decision to open was quite spontaneous, given she had called Yeppoon home for about 11 months now.

A man, who had an outstanding unlicensed driving charge from 10 years ago, has only just had the matter dealt with in court after working in Western Australia and forgetting about the charge while “travelling around”.
Maxwell Edward Maybanks pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on March 15 to one count of driving without a licence.
Police prosecutor sergeant Kevin Ongheen said Maybanks was intercepted driving along Lawrie Street, Gracemere, at 7pm on April 5, 2011 for a random breath test and licence check.
Sergeant Ongheen said Maybanks did not have his driver’s licence on him and checks confirmed it had been disqualified until June 9, 2011.
