The school at the Key site, which opens to students this August, has a new name: Innovation Elementary School.
The name received unanimous support from Arlington School Board members during a meeting last night (Thursday), passing 4-0 with member Reid Goldstein not present.
“We’re very excited for students and staff to enjoy and attend the Innovation Elementary School in Arlington,” said Board Chair Monique O’Grady.
The School Board voted last February to convert the Key site, which currently houses a Spanish immersion choice program, into a neighborhood school. It will serve children in the fast-growing Rosslyn area, including some who were previously zoned for Arlington Science Focus School.

Boise Schools went back to full time in person learning this week. I have a 7 year old who goes to Mary McPherson with Ada County and we have been in person learning for a while now. Even though my boy loved the freedoms of being home and claims he wants to be home, even though when I pick him up he is excited to tell me about what a fantastic day he had at school, silly, moody child. According to the summery ranking for great schools Mary McPherson got a 9/10.

Some of San Diego County’s 80,000 teachers, school staff, and administrators will begin rolling up their sleeves on Saturday. The County of San Diego made the announcement Wednesday, that educators were included in a group of people eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination along with emergency responders and farm and food workers.
“I was excited. I actually messaged my parents who both just got the vaccine,” said Discovery Elementary School teacher Kate Crawford.
