The new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) should be up and running in about two years, according to a senior figure at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Speaking at a Westminster Forum Projects conference on the future of building safety and regulation, HSE senior policy adviser Sarah Mallagh said it would take between 21 and 24 months for the organisation to be launched.
“We expect it’ll take somewhere between nine and 12 months for the [Building Safety] Bill to go through parliament, and then a further 12 months beyond that before the Building Safety Regulator is up and running,” she said.
