The Full List of EU Countries Set To Welcome Irish Visitors This Summer

There was hope for those still holding out for a foreign getaway this summer with the latest update on the EU Digital Cert. Last week the Government announced plans to allow foreign travel to resume in July, and now the countries that will be welcoming Irish tourists have been announced. The certs are due to come into effect from 1 July but Irish visitors won’t be able to make use of them for almost another three weeks. As it stands there are three phases for EU countries to welcome back tourists; those that are connected and issuing the cert, those that are preparing to connect, and those that are still in the test phase.

Adekunle ‘Femi’ Adenuga, who was born in the UK, was mistakenly classed as “remaining in the UK without leave” and unable to travel after the Metropolitan Police wrongly recorded him as linked to identity fraud on its database, the Crime Reporting Information System (CRIS). The 50-year-old from north London does not have a criminal record and the police admitted a mistake was made, but the force denies any damage was caused because its database is only accessible internally.

UNTIL a possible twinning was suggested by the Chinese Embassy few people, if any, in Newport had ever heard of Wuzhou. A little research showed it was a city of some 250,000 inhabitants in the beautiful province of Guangxi, some 400 miles from Hong Kong. This last fact could prove to be a positive advantage when Hong Kong is given back to China. In October Newport Borough Council sent a small party to Wuzhou with the objective of promoting friendship and trade. Impressed with what they saw there, the scope for twinning was clear with great possibilities of mutual benefits on both sides.
