Woman in hospital with serious injuries following smash between car and lorry A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a smash between a car and a lorry. The woman, who is in her 80s and was driving the car, was injured in the crash, which took place at around 11am on Monday. It is not believed anyone else was injured. The incident took place on Amounderness Way close to the roundabout in Thornton Cleveleys, with police closing the road in both directions between Morrisons and Norcross Lane/Fleetwood Road South. A spokesperson for the police said: It looks like two vehicles (a car and a lorry) and a pedestrian were involved in a collision.

A man is trying to track down the kind dark-haired stranger who rushed to the aid of his 84 year old mum, who fell and broke her hip in Southport.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which took place on April 23 in Fleetwood. At around 8pm, a Vauxhall Corsa was taking a turn on the Eros Roundabout on Amounderness Way/Fleetwood Road when it hit a man on a pushbike. The man, 81, suffered serious head injuries and remains in hospital. The car driver stopped at the scene and has assisted officers with their enquiries. Sgt Martin Wilcock from Blackpool Police said: “We need anyone who saw what happened to come forward as they could have vital information to assist our investigation. “Similarly, if you think you have any dash cam footage of the incident, please make contact with us.
