PENDULUM BY DELE MOMODU
Fellow Africans, please, permit me to make an open and audacious declaration today. No Professor of Business Management or Mass Communication could have published Ovation International successfully for the period of time that we have done. I apologise if it sounds immodest but that’s not my intention. It is a fact that’s solidly backed by 25 years of an epic journey and with the sight of many would be competitors sadly falling by the wayside within a short time of debuting.
One of the most frequently asked questions everywhere I go is how have we managed to keep Ovation going when much older, bigger and richer publications have long collapsed, dead and buried? I will try to expose some of the strategies that have truly helped us, since April 1996, when the first copy rolled out, like a new-born baby.

Fellow Nigerians, it is not every day that we get to celebrate the great women of Nigeria, not because there are few of them, but because sometimes their modesty, humility and cloistered nature makes them keep away from hugging the limelight unlike their more aggressive and socially astute male contemporaries. However, Ovation often seeks out women of this ilk because that is the essence of what Ovation stands for – the celebration of Black people of quality, achievement, distinction and honour.
As I have always noted, I am a male Feminist (wrote my Masters thesis on The Oppression of Women in African Literature) and an avid follower and respecter of women who have shown their competence, capability and ability by succeeding in a male dominated world. I greatly admire such accomplished African women and it is my pleasure and privilege to felicitate and congratulate one of such women, our dear Sister, Mrs Foluke Kafayat Abdulrazaq, who marked her 65th birth

As they say on the street:
“ E fit take time, but one day, one day, Monkey go go market”
“I love this quote about injustice:
“Every person remembers some moment in their life where they witnessed some injustice, big or small, and looked away because the consequences of intervening seemed too intimidating. But there’s a limit to the amount of incivility and inequality and inhumanity that each individual can tolerate. I crossed that line. And I’m no longer alone.” – Edward Snowden.
“One day, and very soon, Nigerians will cross that line too.
For there is indeed a limit to human endurance. One day, we all shall rise to say Enough is enough. One day!”
25 Years Ago, Ovation International was Born in London
