Cllrs Tinsley and Gunn WORK is to begin on a new petrol station, which will act as an important gateway to a County Durham town. A date has now been set for the redevelopment of the former Park View Garage, at Low Willington. After lying derelict for many years, the former garage has been branded an eyesore by local residents. Planning permission was granted in 2017 for a convenience store and petrol filling station on the former garage site. Pupils from St Mary’s RC School, in South Moor, and the paper trees they have created A County Durham school has been created hundreds of paper treeas as part of a world record challenge to raise awareness of climate change. Durham County Council’s international relations team has been working with St Mary’s RC School, in South Moor, near Stanley, in the bid. The attempt is being made by an Austrian school, which asked counterparts across the globe to send in their creations to create the world’s longest chain of paper trees. Gratkorn elementary school, in Styria, will be using the record attempt as an opportunity to create a “climate-friendly world record forest” where one real tree will be planted for every 50 paper trees they receive.
