BRUSSELS/LONDON France will reopen its borders to passengers from England on Wednesday, ending a blockade intended to stop the spread of a new coronavirus variant, but which has held up thousands of lorries before Christmas.
Much of the world shut its borders to Britain after a significantly more transmissible mutated coronavirus variant was discovered spreading swiftly across southern England.

BRUSSELS/LONDON, Dec 22 (Reuters) - The European Union executive threw Britain a lifeline on Tuesday after it became stranded in COVID-19 isolation, recommending that EU members roll back sweeping border closures to allow freight to resume and let people return home for Christmas.
Much of the world shut their borders to Britain after a mutated variant of the novel coronavirus was discovered spreading swiftly across southern England, halting a chunk of trade with the rest of Europe and leaving truckers stranded.

The National Dairy Council (NDC) has published a new fact book titled Irish Dairy, Sustainable Ireland as part of its work with the European Milk Forum.
The book, which is the third edition to be published in Ireland, outlines the actions being taken on Ireland s 18,000 dairy farms to improve sustainability, increase biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The main work highlighted in the publication is the more efficient use of fertiliser, grassland management, the use of low emissions slurry spreading equipment, water quality improvement and herd genomics.
