King tide swallows beaches, flooding and fallen trees knock out power

Thousands of Brisbane homes and businesses are without power after fallen trees brought down power lines and flash flooding forced parts of the energy network to be shut off for safety reasons.
The king tide also engulfed stretches of sand across the state s south-east on Monday, with all Gold Coast beaches and most on the Sunshine Coast closed by surf lifesavers.
