MONTREAL Gurdeep Pandher better known as “Gurdeep Pandher of the Yukon” has made it to Montreal, and just in time for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup final. Who’s Gurdeep Pandher of the Yukon, you ask? He s a dance teacher-turned internet sensation, amassing thousands of followers through his Bhangra videos. Bhangra is a traditional Punjab folk dance which Pandher has been practicing since his youth. After immigrating from Punjab to Canada and eventually settling in the Yukon, Pandher began travelling the country to teach dance and, as he puts it, “spread joy and positivity.” “Now I have fans across the country, and I have lots and lots of fans here in Quebec, in Montreal,” he says.

Montreal police say they are stepping up efforts to recruit minorities to counter the low level of racial and cultural representation on the force.
The police department’s efforts thus far were presented to the city’s public safety committee on Monday.

The results show that despite nearly 20 years of outreach, minority representation on the police force remains in the single digits and is growing at a slow rate.
Inspector Migüel Alston, in charge of diversity hiring efforts, said the force plans to reach out to ethnic radio stations and work with high schools to identify students who might be interested in police careers, and offer them workshops.

Drive-thru vaccinations Quebec’s first drive-through COVID-19 vaccination site will soon open in the parking lot of Montreal’s Trudeau airport. The site is expected to start operating May 17 and should be able to vaccinate up to 4,000 people a day. Appointment
