Stockbridge mayor pro tem faces growing calls from city leaders to resign City leaders are calling for the Stockbridge mayor pro-tem to resign. STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - The city of Stockbridge’s mayor pro tem is under fire by some of his own colleagues. Two of the city’s council members joined the mayor in calling for Councilman Elton Alexander’s resignation on Friday after a harassment lawsuit was settled alleging he tried to use his position to get a free meal at a bar-be-que joint and retaliated when the owner refused. Ladies and gentlemen, this is not personal, said Stockbridge councilmember LaKeisha Gantt at a news conference Friday morning outside of City Hall on Friday morning. This is $1,725,000 to a victim who has been ridiculed.

Stockbridge mayor, council members call for Elton Alexander s resignation

STOCKBRIDGE  — Stockbridge City Council members LaKeisha Gantt and John Blount held a press conference Friday morning on the steps of City Hall calling for fellow council member Elton Alexander’s resignation. Blount also requested an investigation of Alexander’s behavior since he took office in 2016; the first step required by the city charter to remove him from the council. The conference follows a letter from Mayor Anthony Ford to Alexander asking that he step down from his position. Ford, Gantt and Blount cited the recent $1.7 million settlement as a result of a lawsuit brought against Alexander and the city by BBQ Masters owner Arick Whitson.
