While Kevin Holland seems eager to fight Leon Edwards on short notice next month, the UFC middleweight contender appears to have his first five-round main event on deck this March.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported on Tuesday (before Holland made that tweet, of course) that a matchup between Holland and Derek Brunson is slotted in for March 20th at a location to be determined. Brunson accepted a fight with Holland through social media and those two do have a bit of a beef going.

At UFC 256, middleweight contender Kevin Holland scored his biggest win yet. Now he’s expressed his interest in beating up Derek Brunson… but not for any reason you might assume.
Throughout Holland’s still young career, he’s become somewhat of a knockout artist with 11 of his 21 victories coming via that finishing variation. By watching him in action, one can undeniably see he’s a striking showman.
Fresh off of a stunning knockout of Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, a familiar opponent to Brunson, Holland managed to put away the Brazilian with punches from his back. Therefore securing him an extra $50,000 as he picked up a performance of the night bonus along with the win.
Despite little promotion by the UFC, there is, in fact, a pay-per-view card on Saturday, May 12. UFC 224 takes place in Brazil and features a world title fight as its main event, no less.
In front of what will no doubt be a rowdy and enthusiastic Brazilian crowd, UFC bantamweight champion and native Brazilian Amanda Nunes defends her belt against Raquel Pennington. This will be the champ’s first title defense since her close victory over Valentina Shevchenko last year, and it will be Pennington’s first-ever title opportunity. This is Pennington’s first fight since defeating former champion Miesha Tate at UFC 205 in 2016. Will Nunes defend her belt for the third time? Or will the underdog Pennington pull off what would be considered a huge upset?
