CLEVELAND, Ohio We made it.
Despite a shorter offseason, daily COVID-19 testing, some fanless arenas and a compressed 72-game schedule that led to more back-to-backs, injuries and tanking, the NBA finished the regular season. It’s time for the Play-In Tournament.
Well, not yet. First things first. Let’s reflect on these strange, hectic, eventful and surprise-filled months and hand out awards.

The Portland Trail Blazers are racing toward this season’s finish line while riding a hot streak that could either be further propelled on Friday night or end up crashing into a wall of purple and gold.

Damian Lillard finished with 35 points and seven assists, but the Los Angeles Lakers pulled away to win 102-93 on Friday night and hand the Portland Trail Blazers their fourth loss in a row.
The Blazers (18-14) managed just 36 points in the second half after putting 57 on the board in the first half on the way to a three-point halftime lead. Lillard scored 15 points in the first quarter and had 24 by the half.
Los Angeles then took control in the third quarter, outscoring Portland 31-19 to take an 85-76 lead into the fourth. The Blazers couldn’t muster a comeback in the final period and the Lakers (23-11) snapped their four-game losing streak.

Friday night’s matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers will feature two teams grappling with injuries and hungry to end losing streaks.
The Blazers have lost three consecutive games, while the Lakers have dropped four in a row and five out of six since losing Anthony Davis to an Achilles injury.

The LA Lakers mean defense will be looking to put on another strong display when Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies arrive at the Staples Center on Friday evening.
Led by LeBron James, the LA Lakers were able to come through three overtime games with three wins and continue to fight to retake their lead atop the Western Conference. Against Charlotte on Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies were able to stop a losing run that had seen them drop outside the playoff positions.
