India’s gas market is growing fast but not evenly in all sectors. At present, natural gas has about 7% of the country’s overall energy mix (Figure 1), which is one of the lowest among major economies. The Indian government has been promoting the use of gas to fight chronic air pollution. In northern India, this has much to do with the region’s geographical and meteorological conditions, but the source of this pollution is anthropogenic and mainly related to energy demand.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2021 ) :The overall production of petroleum commodities has witnessed an increase of 5.01 percent during the first half of financial year 2020-21 as compared to corresponding period of last year.
The Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) products that showed growth including kerosene oil production, which increased by 3.83 percent during the period under review, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.
Similarly, the production of Motor Spirits, High Speed Diesel, Furnace Oil, Jute Batching Oil and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) witnessing increase of 18.54 percent, 9.74 percent, 6.52 percent, 4.17 percent and 6.39 percent respectively.

NEPRA questions furnace oil use in power generation
Reserves judgement on petition seeking tariff hike of Rs1.81 per unit for Dec 2020
ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has once again questioned the use of expensive furnace oil instead of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) for electricity generation in December 2020.
The regulator has also questioned the diversion of gas from power plants to other sectors during the month.
At a public hearing of a petition of the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), presided over by Nepra Chairman Tauseef H Farouqi, the regulator reserved its judgement on the application seeking a power tariff hike of Rs1.81 per unit on account of fuel cost adjustment for December 2020.
Byco Begins Civil Works On FCC, DHDS Units

Karachi: Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited, Pakistan’s largest oil refining company, reached a key milestone in its Upgrade 1 project by beginning civil works construction on 9th January, 2021 at the site earmarked at its refining complex for the construction of the project. In an Extraordinary General Meeting held on 2nd April 2020, Byco had announced its plans to upgrade its refining complex with the installation of two major new additions to its refineries, namely the DHDS (Diesel Hydro Desulphurizing) Unit, and FCC (Fluidized Catalytic Cracking) Unit.
At the ground breaking ceremony, Mr. Mohammad Wasi Khan, Chairman, Byco’s Board of Directors, commented: “As per our planned schedule, Byco has commenced civil works for the installation of our DHDS and FCC units.
