North South University (NSU) has organized a virtual inauguration ceremony of the Pathology Laboratory in NSU Medical Center on March 29, 2021. NSU is the first and only private university in Bangladesh to set a unique example by launching such a pathology lab at North South University. The launching ceremony of the “Probashi” app was held on March 30, 2021 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the ball room of Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon. The chief guest of the event was the State Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, MP. The special guests were Kabir Bin Anwar, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Dr. Ahmed Munirus Saleheen, Secretary, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Hosne Ara Begum ndc, Managing Director (Secretary), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Tina F Jabeen, CPA, Managing Director & CEO, Startup Bangladesh Ltd, ICT Division, and Asif Ibrahim, Chairman, Chittagong Stock Exchange Ltd.

Islamabad: Kidney patients should keep their blood pressure on the lower side, manage their blood sugar level, reduce salt intake, and exercise moderation in terms of protein consumption. A person at high risk for kidney disease should consult his health care provider to protect kidney health.
Consultant nephrologist at Shifa International Hospital (SIH) Dr. Syed Farhat Abbas communicated the above message on the occasion of World Kidney Day, which is annually observed on March 11 to raise awareness of the importance of kidneys to overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.

Every year the second Thursday of March is celebrated as ‘World Kidney Day’ across the world. A health awareness campaign is jointly initiated by the International Society of Nephrology and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations on this day.
The first World Kidney Day was observed in 2006 with 66 countries participating and now the number has gone up to 88. It is aimed at raising awareness about the importance of kidneys and kidney-related diseases hence reducing the frequency and impact of such ailments worldwide.
Each year a theme is decided for the day to focus on various aspects of the subject and the theme for this year is ‘Living Well with Kidney Disease’. This has been done to empower kidney patients and their family members to help them deal with the trauma.
