Essex County Council has published a notice in this week’s edition of the
Guardian detailing an order to stop vehicles from using Wake Road (known locally as Manor Road) in High Beech, Waltham Abbey, between its junctions with Wellington Hill and Pauls Nursery Road, primarily during evening and overnight. The “experimental prohibition” order will come into operation on April 30 and is due to last for a maximum of 18 months. The road will be closed by lockable gates during the hours of operation which will be seasonal. The gates will be opened and locked by the Epping Forest Keepers/Constables.

News footage shows crowds flocked to High Beech, Loughton, this weekend spurred by the warm weather. Photos: BBC News Crowds flocked to High Beech in Loughton on Saturday to make the most of sparkling February sun and Spring temperatures. However, with temperatures soaring to highs of 13°c many people chose to flout lockdown rules and have gather in the sun for drinks and picnics. England is still in a national lockdown. Under the rules, you may leave the home to exercise with your household (or support bubble) or one other person, in which case you should stay two meters apart.
