KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Monday, The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) announced the promotion of Assistant Chief Dave Boysen to Deputy Chief.
The promotion is effective March 8.
âI am pleased to promote Assistant Chief Dave Boysen to the rank of Deputy Chief. Chief Boysen has been a dedicated member of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety for 25 years and has the respect of the entire department,â KDPS Chief Vernon Coakley said in a statement. âHis proven history of being a strong leader and commitment to community-minded policing will be critical as he steps into this vital to help KDPS ensure Kalamazoo remains and safe and welcoming place for families, residents, businesses and visitors.â

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â Businesses are advised to lock up all commercial properties ahead of the holiday weekend, according to the City of Kalamazoo.
âThere has been an increase in break-ins targeting commercial properties, construction sites, work trailers and out-buildings in our community,â says Assistant Chief Dave Boysen with the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. âItâs critical to remain mindful of suspicious activity and unfamiliar vehicles spending a lot of time near your business, and make sure all valuables are locked and securely stored.â

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Monday, the Kalamazoo City Board of Commissioners held a public discussion about its proposed 2021 budget.
During the virtual meeting, various leaders from the city discussed different facets of the proposal, including various projects and programs that are slated to start next year, as well as the reduction of gun violence and improvement of racial equity work.
