Chalk the pier event

OSWEGO — The H. Lee White Maritime Museum will offer an outdoor activity that engages young people ages nine through 17 in the use of chalk as an artistic medium. Artist Alyssa Smith will work with volunteers to create a large mural in the picnic area outside the museum building. Young artists will help develop and expand the mural through their own creative efforts. The theme for the mural is “Where the water never ends,” which will be used to inspire young artists. The program is set for noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 25. Space is limited so youngsters are asked to reserve ahead by visiting the museum’s website: hlwmm.org.

Oswego photo scavenger hunt scheduled for Aug 6

OSWEGO — The Oswego City County Youth Bureau will host a city photo scavenger hunt starting on Aug. 6. There will be over 50 items that participants will need photos of in order to finish the hunt and have a chance at winning prizes. This will be a week-long hunt as it will take awhile to do this. People must work in groups or pairs. After finishing the scavenger hunt and taking all the photos, contact Jen Losurdo at the Youth Bureau 315-349-3451 or upload photos to jlosurdo@oswegony.org. Participants will then be entered to win some prizes. The due date is Friday, Aug. 13. Stop at the Youth Bureau, 70 Bunner St. to pick up a packet of instructions on Aug. 6. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Golisano Hospital summer-time toy drive

OSWEGO — The Oswego City County Youth Bureau, the Oswego Police Department and the Phoenix Police Department have teamed up to form a toy and necessities drive for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Donations will be accepted until Aug. 23 and can be dropped off to The Youth Bureau, 70 Bunner St., Oswego Police Department, 169 W. Second St. or Phoenix Police Department, 455 Main St., between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All items must be new items. After all donations are received, they will be delivered right to the hospital. “I believe all families should not have to struggle to make their kids comfortable while they are sick. If we can help them gather items in need, we will do that with the public’s help. This is a great way to cheer all of them up and help them in any way we can,” said Jen Losurdo from Oswego City County Youth Bureau.
