Some Norwalk announcements for you: Laurel Lindstrom tribute planned Disposal passes available April 15   ENNA to honor founder Laurel Lindstrom, founder and longtime president of the East Norwalk Neighborhood Association (ENNA) will be honored during the group’s monthly Zoom meeting on Monday April 19., according to a press release. Before founding ENNA, two term Common Council member  Lindstrom had previously launched other civic groups in the area between L.I. Sound and Westport Avenue.  ENNA was incorporated in 2003.  It is a 501(c)(3)  non-profit whose stated mission  is  “to preserve and enhance the natural and historic assets and quality of life in East Norwalk”.

Mayor Joel Greer has seen the positive effects of quality child care and development first hand. This is why he proclaimed Marshalltown will recognize the Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Established in 1971, this marks the 50th anniversary. The purpose of the week, which takes place April 10-16, is to raise awareness toward the importance of quality early childhood development and child care services.

ICC to celebrate Week of the Young Child 50th anniversary with daily events

TUPELO • Itawamba Community College s Resource & Referral Network is celebrating the 50th annual Week of the Young Child, a national event to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families while recognizing programs and services that meet those needs. Tami Doss joined the Resource & Referral Network as its resource referral associate in October 2020. The network has provided free physical and digital resources for child care providers, parents and teachers since it opened in August 2017. That includes the Week of the Young Child, which is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The weeklong celebration begins next Monday, April 12, and will wrap up Friday, April 16. Each day has a theme that focuses on developing a new skill or learning a new topic.

Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge to host Celebration of the Young Child Special to The Oak Ridger The Children’s Museum is still open on a part-time basis because of the pandemic. The Museum’s schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m, and Sunday from 1 until 4 p.m.   For everyone’s safety, staff and volunteers in public areas of the Museum wear masks, and the Museum is vigilant about cleaning and visitor safety protocols. Museum visitors are expected to practice social distancing, and visitors ages five and older are required to wear a mask. Masks are optional for children ages three through four. Masks are not required for children younger than three. Visitors’ temperatures are checked upon arrival and a series of health questions are asked.
